Happy National Library Week!

In observance of this lovely celebratory week, we bring you a few images of UCSF Library staff and librarians in their natural habitat from the 1950s.

  1. Reference is made to the “old” UCSF library in 1959. As a member of the Class of 1957 I seem to remember a “really old” medical library in the old medical school building circa 1955. I am confused?

    • Yes– you are correct! Each school used to have its own library in the Affiliated Colleges buildings. When the Medical Sciences building opened in 1954 and 1958, a central medical library was established.
